Overview
This 45-hour Hot Yoga Teacher Training is an immersive, condensed 5-day programme. Trainees will learn all the necessary skills to teach Hot Yoga classes safely, clearly, and intelligently, while deepening their understanding of modern, alignment-based hot yoga.
The Studio Environment
The room is heated to around 40°C and maintained at approximately 40% humidity to support the practice.
The story behind Tapasya Hot Yoga
The Tapasya Hot Yoga method is informed by the wisdom of modern hatha yoga styles, while preserving the transformative effects associated with traditional hot methods. Tapasya was thoughtfully designed to offer a safe, empowering, and deeply introspective practice that meets students where they are. The methodology is grounded in a clear philosophical framework and supported by technically informed principles of alignment, sequencing, cueing, and timing. Carefully structured to promote joint safety, the sequence has been reviewed and endorsed by physiotherapists, resulting in a practice that is both intelligent and accessible. Tapasya offers a powerful yet nurturing experience suitable for yoga students and practitioners of all levels.
The method places a strong emphasis on alignment, breath awareness, flexibility, strength, and self-regulation, leaving practitioners with a sense of grounding and calm, along with that radiant, post-practice glow. The practice is active and dynamic, yet intentionally non-flowing. There are no Sun Salutations and minimal linking poses. Instead, postures are held statically for specific, timed durations, rather than being breath-led.
The structure of Tapasya Hot Yoga removes the risk from transitions and enables students to embody each shape fully. Static poses cultivate strength, patience, and clarity, inviting a dynamic inner experience through stillness. Each standing posture is followed by a moment of rest in Tadasana pose, naturally balancing effort with surrender throughout the class. Over time, this builds stamina, endurance, and the capacity to find calm within intensity.
Who is this Teacher Training for?
This 45-hour training is ideal for certified teachers or teachers in training, looking to specialise in a hot-hatha practice.
What This Training Is Not
This is not Bikram yoga, although many Bikram-trained teachers have appreciated this approach to alignment and teaching. It is also not about learning to teach from a script, which has become common in parts of the hot yoga business.
What This Training Is
While you will learn a set series, teachers are encouraged to teach from their own embodied experience, allowing for freedom, adaptability and variation within the sequence framework.
